Your planned gift supports a healthy future.
By helping children understand the natural world, and the impact of their behavior upon this world, we are working to sustain the health of our communities and our planet. We envision a future with resilient ecosystems and a community involved in caring for those ecosystems.
Join founding member Jennifer Harris in making outdoor environmental education your legacy!
“I am proud to make the Redwood Valley Outdoor Education Project my legacy to future generations. When I retired as a science teacher, I had the opportunity to set the foundation for the RVOEP. I am excited to see how it has developed over the years, serving over two thousand students each year. Its comprehensive outdoor environmental education program is preparing them to be thoughtful stewards and knowledgeable decision makers of tomorrow.”

What is Planned Giving?
Planned gifts allow donors to provide future benefits to causes they care for, usually through an annuity, a bequest in a will or living trust. The donor controls the bequest during life. Some planned giving methods provide the donor with immediate tax and financial benefits. We encourage you to join us in considering making a gift that supports RVOEP, reduces your tax liability and/or costs you nothing during your lifetime.
Why include the Redwood Valley Outdoor Education Project in you estate planning?
A planned gift to RVOEP will help ensure that RVOEP accomplishes its mission of connecting young people with nature, science and stewardship of our natural resources. Your gift can help provide an enduring source of income for the future of the Redwood Valley Outdoor Education Project.
Planned Giving Options
We encourage you to consult with your legal and financial advisors when considering a planned gift. Here are some options:
-
Gifts. We gratefully accept outright gifts and bequests of any size. An outright gift provides an immediate tax deduction and an immediate benefit to RVOEP. A bequest in your Will or Living Trust is simple to arrange and you retain control over the bequest.
-
Annuities. Establishing an annuity provides a way of supporting the RVOEP while creating an ongoing income stream and tax advantages for the donor.
-
Bequests in Wills or Living Trusts. In collaboration with the Community Foundation of Mendocino County and your financial advisors, we can assist you with planning for life-income arrangements through your will or trust—a gift that costs you little or nothing now, and will benefit RVOEP in the future. This giving option is simple to arrange and you retain control over the bequest.
-
IRA, Pension or other Retirement Accounts. Donating your retirement account or the income from your account benefits RVOEP and may provide tax advantages for the donor.
-
Life Insurance Designation. Easy to do and requires little paperwork.
-
Gift of Personal Residence. Continue to live in your home and enjoy current income tax benefits. RVOEP will receive the benefit of your legacy gift in the future.
Arrangements for Leaving a Legacy to the RVOEP can be made through your individual financial planner or attorney, or through our collaborative relationship with the Mendocino Community Foundation.
Please contact RVOEP Coordinator Maureen Taylor to discuss these options. With your planned gift, you will help to create a better future for children, the community and the environment.
